village voice

The Village Voice Bookshop is quite known from David Sedaris' novels. He use to frequent this bookshop and host live readings.
If you need the latest book fresh off the press, come here.

tea + tattered pages

Aw maaan, this place has SUCH potential to be so awesome. Tea and Tattered Pages is a used bookshop / tea room. The concept is a brilliant idea but it's just dead in there.

the tea salon, empty:
lots of books, but nothing worth buying/reading:
this is the underground lair that smells like death/krusty old books:
the outside:

san francisco + berkeley

San Francisco Book Co. is a promising place to find a cheap used pocket book:
San Francisco.....
.....and right around the corner I discovered Berkeley Books, ha! Another English used bookstore! Brilliant.

The Bay Area in Paris.

the abbey bookshop

The Abbey bookshop, located near Shakespeare + Company, sells 80% used books 20% new books. I picked up a used copy of What is the What - an autobiographical novel about Valentino Achak Deng (written by Dave Eggers).
This place was exploding with books!
I don't think I've ever seen so many books in such a little place!
It was a little overwhelming....
there was even an underground cave!
books!!!!!!!! :)
scope the stacks:

shakespeare & company bookshop

Shakespeare & Company. Click here to read the fascinating history of the bookshop + owner Sylvia Beach.

le monte-en-l'air

Le Monte-en-l'air is a half bookshop + half gallery.
I did not fancy the art.

The shop carried illustrated books, comics, graphic art, etc.
But it was a little too bizarre for my liking.

WHSmith Bookshop

The "Borders" slash "Narnes + Boble" of Paris: WH Smith.
Nothing too exciting about this bookshop and no personality either.
Blah.

artazart bookshop

Another delightful bookshop is Artazart Bookshop in the 10eme.
It carries similar books to that of the Lazy Dog but they carry a much wider selection.

They also carry my all time favorite travel guides, Wallpaper* City Guides. If you plan on traveling to a city that has a guide, BUY IT. It will be the best thing you ever do.
I want these two titles very badly
(1) Le Corbusier Le Grand
(2) Breakfast Lunch Tea Rose Bakery

the lazy dog

Later this afternoon Greg and I went to The Lazy Dog. It is a book shop specializing in graphic art, fashion culture, illustration, music, advertising, typography, etc. It also carries posters, shirts, and novelty (useless) items. The books reminded me of Sarah, if she was here I would take her there.

merci merci cafe

After window shopping in the camera stores of Beaumarchais, we stumbled upon this extraordinary little find. It's called Merci Merci. It's a cafe+library+book shop+design+furniture+stationary+houseware+clothing store all wrapped up in one uniquely shaped building. It's my best find so far. More photos to come soon when I take Alison there....
