cimetiere monmarte
My obsession of cemeteries is still goin' strong, today I visited Cimetiere Monmarte.
It's fun looking for specific graves because it's sort of like a treasure hunt. On the map they specify which road it is by, and which numbered division, and they mark an X where is sortaaaaa is, but not really. I love gravehunting.

After 10 minutes of searching I found Francois Truffaut's grave! The great cinematographer! To see what films he has made, click here.

Here are two films that I watched in Thompson's class at Cal Poly that I highly highly highly recommend:
A Bout Se Souffle (Breathless)
L'Argent de Poche (Small Change)
Merci Monsieur Truffaut

Coco avant Chanel.
This morning I watched this movie while the Flecchia family went out skiing. It is quite good. Audrey Tautou, my favorite French actress is in it. I really like the scenes where she is sewing, cutting fabrics, stitching lace, hemming clothes, etc. The trailer is sort of cheesy, I swear the actual film is much better.

a serious man
When Julie told me she wanted to se this movie today I was half-interested but decided to still go anyways. But now that I have seen the film, I highly recommend it! As a warning I don't think the trailer does the movie any justice:
The comedic timing is brilliant. The humor is dry, the situations are sarcastic, the dialogues are hopeless, everything is tied together really well, and in the end - well I don't want to give the ending away, so you should just see it...

fantastic mr. fox!
I give this movie picture a hundred-gagillion stars and three thousand thumbs up. That's a bit of an exaggeration but I promise this is like nothing you have ever seen before! It's a blend of stop-animation-claymation-special-effects-pixaresque-puppets complete with a head-bopping-toe-tapping soundtrack wrapped up into one delicious Wes Anderson film. Have I convinced you yet? Watch the trailer below...
Behind the Scenes, it's incredible how they hand crafted each individual character and set with real tangible materials and textures!

the lives of others
.....or Das Leben der Anderen in German, is a meticulously well-plotted film that centers around the monitoring of the cultural scene of East Berlin by agents of the Stasi, the GDR's secret police. I highly recommend this film, here is the trailer for your viewing pleasure:
