cimetiere monmarte

My obsession of cemeteries is still goin' strong, today I visited Cimetiere Monmarte.
This was a bridge overpass that went over the cemetery:
a round about, about the size of Leucadia's:
the long avenue:
It's fun looking for specific graves because it's sort of like a treasure hunt. On the map they specify which road it is by, and which numbered division, and they mark an X where is sortaaaaa is, but not really. I love gravehunting.

Here is a video of the surroundings:

After 10 minutes of searching I found Francois Truffaut's grave! The great cinematographer! To see what films he has made, click here.

Here are two films that I watched in Thompson's class at Cal Poly that I highly highly highly recommend:
A Bout Se Souffle (Breathless)

L'Argent de Poche (Small Change)
Merci Monsieur Truffaut

bagels + brownies

Bagels + Brownies. That is literarily the name of this teeny tiny eatery. And all they sell is bagels + brownies (and other delicious baked goods). MMmmmmmm.
Poppy seed bagel toasted with cream cheese.
(PS I haven't eaten this in over 5 months!)
There is always a line out the door!

The Adventures of Kavalier + Clay

The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay.
This is what the book looks like in the States:
This is what my copy looks like:

There is a reason this won the Pulitzer Prize.
I couldn't put it down.
Go, buy, read.
Best book I've read in 2010.
Bravo Sir Chabon.

cucina italiana con stefano

We got our grub on a fine little Italian place on Rue des Martyrs
I got the poivrons farcis (bellpeppers stuffed with meat) and Steve got meat lasagna. We left with very happy bellies.
A cross section of my delicious meal:

artazart bookshop

Another delightful bookshop is Artazart Bookshop in the 10eme.
It carries similar books to that of the Lazy Dog but they carry a much wider selection.

They also carry my all time favorite travel guides, Wallpaper* City Guides. If you plan on traveling to a city that has a guide, BUY IT. It will be the best thing you ever do.
I want these two titles very badly
(1) Le Corbusier Le Grand
(2) Breakfast Lunch Tea Rose Bakery

galerie vegetale

La Galerie Vegetale. This shop is magnifique!
The window displays:
cute potted plants for urban dwellings:
unique blossoms + vases:
I really like this ladder plant holder, very nice.
The second I saw this plant I got pains of homesickness. I have this exact plant in my room in Leucadia. And it's over 6 feet long, just like these!!!! But then I remember it died a couple months ago. :(
Sweet twiggy thingys:

chouette!

the lazy dog

I went to another The Lazy Dog bookshop today. I like the products they carry and if I was made or euros and had ample room in my suitcase I would buy many books. But alas, I don't have either so I just come here and thumb through them.
They carry these sorts of books: illustration, music, advertisement + identity + package, graphic design, typography, street art, photo, urban + fashion culture, design, architecture, bookzine, comics, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
the also carry novelty items, graphic tees + sweatshirts, agendas, notebooks, calendars, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

parc de la villette

Cite des Sciences et de l'Industrie is located within Parc de la Villette. I've never been inside the building but the structure is quite cool.

the backside of the building:
a geode!!!!!!!! and a mini rainbow!

awwwwwesome.
Frenchies for miles! I mean, kilometers!
super sweet structures
this chairs are permanently fixed to the ground but they can swivel! I sat on one for about a millisecond and nearly fried my buttcheeks off.
Parc de la Villette:
the Canal de l'Ourcq runs through it:
so many Frenchies enjoying the warmth:
