le Petit Nicolas is a book for French children. Well I'm not French nor am I child, but I am learning French and I'm pretty much at a child's level so I bought this book. It's so great! Nicolas is so great! The short stories are all narrated by Nicolas himself. It's like a little French child is telling you a story, and there are loads of run-on sentences, and repetitions and French kiddy slang. It's simple and classic. I bought a set of 5 books and this is the first in the series. It makes me feel good that I can finish a 145 page book in French - even though it is made for 9-10 year olds. Baby steps, baby steps.
