Okay, so get this.
(1) This house used to belong to Louisette Bertholle.
(2) Thus, she used to cook in this kitchen.
(3) Are you familiar with the book Mastering the Art of French Cooking written by Julia Chila (and co-written by Simone Beck + LOUISETTE BERTHOLLE)
(4) WHAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS IS HER KITCHEN!!!!!
(1) Julia Child worked with Louisette Bertholle
(2) Louisette Bertholle used to live here
(3) Constance's Dad owns this house
(4) Constance is my friend
(5) Me
(6) You
Therefore, YOU know Julia Child through 6 degrees of separation! AHHH!!!!
Then we went through a box of her old typewritten recipes! WHAT IN THE WORLD! There wasn't any Mastering the Art of French Cooking recipes, however there were some correspondences between her and Julia. (Yes, I'm on a first name basis.) Most of the files we saw had to do with a project she was working on at the time - American cuisine for the French. which didn't fly.....I wonder why....not!

NO MAS JULIA CHILD hahahaha

Hi there,
ReplyDeleteIs this a country house?
My husband works with someone, and Louisette was his mother's mother.... small world! (Her daughter is still living in Paris, and her grandson is in Canada.
You have a treasure of stuff there. I was wondering if there was any way your friend's dad would be willing to part with one of her hand written recipes?? I would love to give it to him framed as a gift.
You can email me @ styliany@hotmail.com
Thank you,
