cigüeña

I learned a new word in Spanish today: cigüeña (storks)
their nests are SO LARGE:
and they are EVERYWHERE in this town:
it's fun to spot them:
!!!

They reminded me of the movie Birds, particularly, this scene (I love the acting, it's so bad it's good)

jessie's piso

Here is a tour of Jessie's piso, here is the inner courtyard where they hang their laundry:
Her room!
Oh yeah baby! I'm in so many photographs! I feel so special!
The x-ray of her ankle:
Proud to be an American.

jessie's scones!!!!!!

JESSIE MADE ME HER FAMOUS JESSIE (altered Linnaea's) SCONES THIS MORNING!!!!!! NOM NOM NOM NOM
This little shit kept us up all night. Jessie and her rommies are kitty sitting. It's a one month old stupid Siamese kitten that will one day become a cat. It meowed 24-7, we fed it, she pet it, she gave it water, and the damn thing would not stop meowing. Is there anything worse than a cat? Yes, a kitten. I wish you could understand English so you could fully comprehend how much I hate your stupid face. Thanks for shitting in the kitchen, I had a great time cleaning that up. Thanks for shitting in the bathroom, Jocey had a fine time cleaning that up. And a million thanks for shitting on Jessie's pillow, I've never seen so much shit come out of a little creature.
Iced mint tea and strawberry vanilla scones?! Am I in SLO?!?!! Thanks a gagillion Jess :)

cafe continental

Cafe Continental is Jessie's Spanish Linneaea's. She would come here to meet up with friends over coffee, bring her computer to use the wi-fi, or gather study groups with students.

Mama Oso
I ordered a chocolate milkshake, and she ordered a Stawberry.

casa natal de Cervantes

Here we are at the Casa Natal de Cervantes (the birth house of Cervantes)

Fun fact = Don Quijote de la Mancha is the second more translated book in the world (following the Bible). One time I was playing a trivia game with Lana and when asked, what book is in 9 out of 12 homes? Her answer was Harry Potter. No Lana, the Bible. hahahah
Hola Don Quijote!
Sancho Panza + Jess, Yo + Don Quijote. Profe Fagan would be proud!

dar un paseo

We took a stroll down to the main plaza in Alcala de Henares.
They were having some craft fair so we checked it out, there are no people because it is (1) siesta and (2) sunday. Oh Spain.
Jess + rose bushes!
Baby girls.
Hola Don Quijote + Cervantes
so pretty!
Fun fact: Calle Mayor in Alcala is the longest and oldest pedestrian main street in Spain!
And Jessie used to live on it! Here is her old piso!
Some other plaza:
Me and a building:
Here we are:
Fact #1= I have long lanky arms
Fact #2 = my wingspan is longer than my height (yes, I've measured)
This is what Spaniards looks like when they dan el paseo (take a stroll)
Here is the main plaza:

alcala fiesta

We went to Jessie's friend's birthday party tonight in this house. Whaaaaat, look at that interior???

jessie rollie

Since Jessie sprained her ankle and walking on crutches is really tiring, she rolls around on her rolly chair throughout her piso. It's quite a sight.

elephante

An upside down elephant doing acrobatics. KHORN!!!!!

museo thyssen

Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza offers art from 13th century to 20th century. It's a fine museum and I don't know why it doesn't get as much hype as Museo del Prado or la Reina Sofia.
Rory, that's you.
some art:
some art + Jess, being such a trooper on euro crutches:

This is one of my favorite Dali paintings. The title of the painting is: Dream caused by the Flight of a Bee around a Pomegranate a Second before Waking up. (heaaa!)

This reminded my of our friend Kyle Wilhelm's artwork:
