The telephone numbers for these fine restaurants do not function so I’ll probably apply in person tomorrow

Tomiko’s Restaurant

Marie Calendars

Seaside Market

Trattoria i Trulli

The only semi-promising places are the following:

*Karl Strauss Brewing Company – they have open interviews on July 8/9 from 2-4pm so I will be there at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday July 8th

*Naked Café is opening up a new location in Encinitas (in the Home Goods shopping center) so on Monday July 6th at 7:30 a.m. I am meeting with Nathan at the Carlsbad location to see if I can get a job when the new place opens up at the end of this month.

If worst comes to worst I think I’ll just take out loans. That’s not so bad, right?

OH, on a comical note I got a call this morning at 8:54 (6 minutes before my alarm was about to go off) and it was a mystery 760 # and I was SO EXCITED because I knew it had to be a restaurant calling me back! I didn’t pick up because I was groggy and waited until they left a voicemail…and this is what they said:

“Hi Kendra, my name is Christina, I’m calling from Chili’s, I want to thank you for your interest in our restaurant but I’m sorry we won’t be moving you forward in our application process.”

Well, FUCK YOU.

Can’t wait to go to Keno’s tonight and rage on the town. Skinny Dipping Part Deux?

[ bläg əpdāt ]

Yesterday I went to Pismo beach and read Pablo Neruda's The Captain's Verses Love Poems. It's been so long since I've had the chance to read something for myself. It was nice to lay in the sand and read some of his poetry, here is my most favorite poem so far.....

          TU RISA                                    YOUR LAUGHTER

Quítame el pan, si quieres, Take bread away from me, if you wish,

quítame el aire, pero
 take air away, but

no me quites tu risa.

do not take from me your laughter.

No me quites la rosa,
Do not take away the rose,

la lanza que desgranas,
the lance flower that you pluck,

el agua que de pronto
 the water that suddenly

estalla en tu alegría,
 bursts forth in joy,

la repentina ola
 the sudden wave

de plata que te nace.

 of silver born in you.

Mi lucha es dura y vuelvo
My struggle is harsh and I come back

con los ojos cansados
 with eyes tired

a veces de haber visto
 at times from having seen

la tierra que no cambia,
 the unchanging earth,

pero al entrar tu risa
 but when your laughter enters

sube al cielo buscándome
it rises to the sky seeking me

y abre para mí todas
 and it opens for me

las puertas de la vida.

 all the doors of life.

Amor mío, en la hora
 My love, in the darkest

más oscura desgrana
 hour your laughter

tu risa, y si de pronto
 opens, and if suddenly

ves que mi sangre mancha
 you see my blood staining

las piedras de la calle,
 the stones of the street,

ríe, por que tu risa
 laugh, because your laughter

será para mis manos
 will be for my hands

como una espada fresca.

 like a fresh sword.

Junto al mar en otoño,
Next to the sea in the autumn,

tu risa debe alzar
 your laughter must raise

su cascada de espuma,
 its foamy cascade,

y en primavera, amor,
 and in the spring, love,

quiero tu risa como
 I want your laughter like

la flor que yo esperaba,
the flower I was waiting for,

la flor azul, la rosa
 the blue flower, the rose

de mi patria sonora.

 of my echoing country.

Ríete de la noche,
 Laugh at the night,

del día, de la luna,
at the day, at the moon,

ríete de las calles
 laugh at the twisted

torcidas de la isla,
 streets of the island,

ríete de este torpe
 laugh at this clumsy

muchacho que te quiere,
 boy who loves you,

pero cuando yo abro
 but when I open

los ojos y los cierro,
 my eyes and close them,

cuando mis pasos van,
 when my steps go,

cuando vuelven mis pasos,
 when my steps return,

niégame el pan, el aire,
 deny me bread, air,

la luz, la primavera,
 light, spring,

pero tu risa nunca
 but never your laughter

por que me moriría. for I would die.

I've been playing around the the formatting of this poem because I wanted to present it in two nice structured columns and it's not turning out the way I want and I'm angered and frusterated and I'm so stubborn that I want it to look perfect and now I'm just over it.

Yesterday I also decided that it would be a good idea to go through all of my old schoolwork - toss some things reorganize some things, whatevers. It's incredible how many papers I have accumulated while living here. I'm thinking I'm going to make a low key portfolio of good work that I've done throughout my college career and put it in a binder.

I watched Revolutionary Road today and it was A W E S O M E. I was not impressed by the first 45 minutes, but then it got real intense and mass drama started to go down. I couldn't be more pleased with the ending and I recommend everyone to see it. I'm so impressed with Kate Winselt's acting on screen. She is the definition of woman for me.

I'm thinking I need to get out of the house now and go get some art supplies for the gifts that I'm making Jess, Cookie, Alison and Audi for graduation.

gesundheit x 76

I have sneezed 76 times today.
Literally, I counted.
I sneezed 8 times in a row, personal record right there.
This is what my brain feels like right before I sneeze.

Today I took my french phonetics final and totally passed with couleurs volantes - I highly doubt the French say that but I'm sticking with it.

I realized today that I have double-digits in my bank account...YIKES! and I still found it necessary to eat orecchiette alla vodka today from Mama's Meatball, whoops. Whatever, I don't regret a single delicious bite.

kermit la grenouille

Whaaatup errrybody.

This is my first attempt at blogging so bare with me. bear with me?
I've never been too hot at spelling....

I have a french phonetics final exam tomorrow that I have yet to study for, T-minus 12 hours until the test...whoops. Instead I have been listening to french music which I like quite alot.

Andrew Bird does a swell french cover of "It's Not Easy Being Green" - originally by Kermit the Frog.
